Considering how well fellow rookie QB's Cam Newton and Andy Dalton played during the 2011 season, it was somewhat easy for fans to overlook the #8 pick in the draft. Jake Locker only got to play in 5 games during his rookie season, filling in for starting QB Matt Hasselbeck. However, in those few games, Locker did impress fans - and never threw an interception ... so his card values remained elevated for most of his rookie season. The above list should get you started with all the Jake Locker main issue cards + some cards that trade like rookie cards. For example, Topps Prime is a weird set where every rookie actually has a few different cards that could be considered a 'rookie' so I tried to list most of them. Most of Topps sets are like this, and SP Authentic is another good example of this from another manufacture. In terms of what to buy when shopping for Jake Locker rookie cards. I think if you want to just get a 'base' or non-autographed rookie card - his Topps Chrome #185 might be the best choice. If you've got some money to spend, the autographed version of the Topps Chrome ++ SP Authentic Patch/Auto, National Treasures, and Five Star are all very collectible cards/brands that should go up in value if Jake Locker has a great career. |
