Whenever a new baseball season begins, prospectors and baseball collectors alike can feast on this years newest prospects that make an impact. Most younger players have seen some time in the big leagues before this season ... and even Buster Posey was making his MLB Opening Day Debut after playing parts of 2 seasons for the San Francisco Giants.
Another young catcher making his opening day MLB debut for the Toronto Blue Jays was J.P. Arencibia. He has seen time in the MLB before the 2011 season, however this was the first time he has been given a major role in the lineup. I decided to take a chance on drafting him in one of my Fantasy Baseball leagues, because he was a late round draft pick in most formats. His fantasy stock & card values got a major boost when he got his 1st chance to play on opening day on April 1st, 2011. JP Arencibia hit 2 home runs + a triple gathering 5 RBI's. It appears that Toronto is alternating him with another catcher - so he only plays every other game or so. However, all of his RC cards have jumped in value.
