| April 6, 2011 Whenever a new baseball season begins, prospectors and baseball collectors alike can feast on this years newest prospects that make an impact. Most younger players have seen some time in the big leagues before this season ... and even Buster Posey was making his MLB Opening Day Debut after playing parts of 2 seasons for the San Francisco Giants. |
Another young catcher making his opening day MLB debut for the Toronto Blue Jays was J.P. Arencibia. He has seen time in the MLB before the 2011 season, however this was the first time he has been given a major role in the lineup. I decided to take a chance on drafting him in one of my Fantasy Baseball leagues, because he was a late round draft pick in most formats. His fantasy stock & card values got a major boost when he got his 1st chance to play on opening day on April 1st, 2011. JP Arencibia hit 2 home runs + a triple gathering 5 RBI's. It appears that Toronto is alternating him with another catcher - so he only plays every other game or so. However, all of his RC cards have jumped in value. |

| March 7, 2011 I originally purchased this card on February 22, 2011 on Check Out My Cards for $3.00. I put in the offer with the seller: SellOurCards and it was accepted quickly. Seth Rosin is a pitching prospect for the San Francisco Giants and I've read about him being a tall, hard throwing right handed starting pitcher. Rosin was drafted in the 4th round of the 2010 MLB Draft. |
To be honest, I was a little bummed out I sold this card, even though it did help me gain a $2.00 profit in my bankroll bet challenge. Rosin only has autographs so far available in 2010 Donruss Elite Baseball - and this one was the Red Status Parallel, serial numbered #/50. Rosin could very well put up very good numbers this year in Single-A San Jose and I might have been able to get more then $5.00 for it. But I really wanted to keep this card, only because I do think Rosin could have potential based solely on the fact the Giants organization has proven they are able to develop pitchers - Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner, Sanchez, Wilson etc..... +$1.99 Profit+ |

These 2011 Commemorative Patch cards are either a hit or miss with collectors. They are not game used or even event used patches. Quite simply they are a normal patch you could buy online or at a store and Topps has decided to use them with their trading cards. New collectors can sometimes be confused by these cards and online sellers sometimes don't make it clear that these cards contain manufactured patches. |
| The 2011 Commemorative Patch cards are inserted 1 per Retail Blaster Box and come in their own special pack. 49 players have a Commemorative Patch card including SF Giants star Buster Posey. A retail blaster box will run you about $18-20 depending where you buy. Early sellers of this card have got to be delighted that they could sell this card for the entire price of the box. As you can see, it's best to sell these cards early as the price online has dropped by over 50% in less then two weeks since the release of 2011 Topps Baseball. |
