The unique Die-Cut design of Crown Royale sets of the past makes its return in 09/10 Panini base cards. These are beautiful looking base cards that should have some collectors looking to complete the entire set. The On Card Rookie Autograph Cards - Serial #/499 - are worth taking a look at as well, these may be some of the best looking Panini Autograph RC's to date.

The set checklist (seen below) isn't so big that putting together the entire set may not be as difficult as 09/10 Absolute Memorabilia might be. Also it means that the 4 'hits' per box will be from a smaller group of players that may bring some value to a product like this. Also - be on the lookout for Hot Boxes - 1:15 Boxes (1 Per Case) will be a "Hot Box" that will contain 2 Autographs & 6 Memorabilia Jersey Cards! That's 4 extra hits!!

As we have seen with Panini's 09/10 Basketball Products, they guarantee at least 1 hit per case. For 09/10 Crown Royale Basketball each 15 box case will contain at least 1: Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Bill Russell, Carmelo Anthony, Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird or rookie Tyreke Evans. Much like 09/10 Panini Timeless Treasures and other late season product, Tyreke Evans has replaced Blake Griffin as the RC case hit and collectors should see more Tyreke to come.

2009/10 Panini Crown Royale - Majestic Signatures Checklist

A great looking Die-Cut Autograph card with a deep checklist might make this set very popular with collectors. A mix of former NBA greats and current NBA stars should keep finding these in packs interesting. There are some players that make it into this set including: #CR Cazzie Russell (NY Knicks), #AA Alvan Adams (Phoenix Suns), #BD Bob Dandridge (Milwaukee Bucks), and others that are not used in many Basketball Sets which is a nice touch by Panini.

This set actually could guide you in drafting a fantasy basketball team - as many of these players are great picks because they shoot early and often. Living Legends might be a stretch for some of these players - but possibly it was because they had jersey pieces and wanted to included them in a set. Mychal Thompson had some good numbers early in his career - but he wasn't a legend. I also grew up watching Dan Majerle - and honestly he was a good player...but his muscles and tan were often far more impressive than his game. The addition LA Lakers Coach (and NY Knicks Player) Phil Jackson is cool as he is truly a living legend and I don't think Panini has many cards of his on the market.

With LeBron James signing a 6 year deal with the Miami Heat it left many Cleveland Cavs fans feeling very sad. It will be interesting to see how collectors handle his memorabilia cards with him in a Cavaliers jersey. Since so many Miami Heat fans will now want to collect LeBron James - we expect some to go back and collect some of his Cavs items since his Miami Heat cards will be limited until late 2010. The exclusive jersey parallel cards in this set will have an odd appeal as Cavs fans will probably be too bitter to be pleased with hitting this in a box - but Miami Heat fans will be looking for these as they are some of the newest (and only) 2009/10 LeBron James jersey cards from Panini.
