One of the most important events every year for top sports card manufactures is the Rookie Premiere Photo Shoot that brings together the most marketable incoming NFL Rookies. This is where companies like Topps and Panini can obtain virtually every autograph and player worn jersey for every set that will be released in 2011. If you pull an autograph or jersey card of one of the 36 NFL Rookies listed below in 2011 – chances are it was obtained at this event held in Los Angeles in late May.
Thanks to the advent of social networking, I was able to compile most of these pictures shown below from Twitter accounts of some of the players at the event. It is an exciting day for the rookies themselves and some take great pride seeing their cards for the very first time. Starting on Wednesday May 18 – the 36 rookies will be photographed and will sign autographs in a process that takes 3 days. On Friday May 20th, 12 of the rookies including Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, A.J. Green, and Von Miller will be at the Best Buy electronics store in West L.A. to sign autographs for fans.
Saturday May 21 is a big day as a photo shoot will take place in the Los Angeles Coliseum and many of those photos will be featured on cardboard come Fall. The NFL Rookies will wear their new uniforms and will take action shots for Topps and Panini America. Topps is famous for having Rookie Premiere Photo Shoot Autographs in some of their flagship products so look for that to continue in 2011.
