Grading Scam? Experiment Compares PSA & SGC Card Grades

This Reddit post describes an experiment conducted to investigate card grading practices, particularly focusing on PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) and SGC (Sportscard Guaranty). The experiment involved a friend who had submitted cards to PSA, but some of them were returned as “ungraded” due to “minimum size requirements.”

The Reddit user, intrigued by this, decided to purchase some of these cards, including a Kenny Pickett Rookie Card that their friend claimed was a gem but received a PSA 8 grade. They subsequently submitted these cards to SGC for grading.

The experiment aims to explore the consistency and accuracy of grading standards between these two grading companies, ultimately questioning the legitimacy of grading practices in the sports card collecting community.
